2005-2006
The seemingly stable domain had its illusions shattered when the truth was learned that the Prince of Toronto, Richard Hollinger, had become an agent of the feared VII cult – a group of kindred believed bent upon the destruction of all vampires. Thankfully Prince Ingrid Jameson, childe of Hollinger, chose to acknowledge the plight faced by the Toronto Court and challenged her sire’s praxis – but not before Eliza King and Lyta Troy fell to the deranged Nosferatu’s attacks. The expected respite was delayed when Karolina Hansen, once the nominal head of the Carthian Movement, and the majority of the Chronos Foundation joined her in aligning with the Ordo Dracul. Such a dramatic shift in numbers to the traditionally small covenant had many concerned that the tentative return to normalcy might be challenged by such sudden growth.
2007
Mr. Lawrence, Master of Elysium and Leader of the Ordo Dracul, caused quite the stir when he raised warnings that the entity known as VII was some sort of mystic viral taint that coalesced within its host as a consciousness bent upon the destruction of kindred kind. Many also mark this as the night when the first suspicions were raised regarding Justin Fairfax’s intentions towards the stability of the Court. Through the Fairfax Trial it was learned that he was responsible for much more than simply the feeding difficulties experienced by the majority of the Court, whilst he pursued to extract his revenge upon the domain for the harm done to his sire Anastasia Marek. Found guilty for the breach of numerous Traditions the Mekhet was summarily executed.
With Belial’s Brood arriving just nights after the Fairfax Trial, Court officials found their resources strained by the sudden need to conceal the depredations of Marcel – leader of the Brood – and his demon worshiping brethren. Under Roland Kaine’s direction, then Reeve, a successful assault was staged upon the Brood’s haven. Despite the neutralization of this external threat, the Court turned their attentions inwards again, to find their internal affairs in seeming disarray. Florian Durand, attacked at the behest of Prince Jameson, proclaims Milton a principality, and later returns to a confrontation amongst the Invictus resulting in her abdication. Upon which Kaine proclaims Martial Law over the domain, and installs himself as the Inquisitor-General (Prince). All of the covenants in flux, the Carthians announce the conclusion of the Eliza King experiment and the implementation of NAMI Corporation. |
