Toronto,
ON… Winchester Inc., Toronto’s leader in property management
and real estate development, is pleased to announce the formation
of its charitable arm, The Heritage Foundation. The Heritage Foundation
is a not-for-profit enterprise dedicated to working with key stakeholders
to promote heritage, culture, the arts, philanthropy, and social
responsibility.
“Heritage sites and cultural institutions play a vital role
in the cultural and civic life of Canadians,” says Thomas
Winchester, Chief Executive Officer and President of Winchester
Inc. “Often, heritage organizations ask us for support in
saving threatened historic buildings and cultural institutions.
In the past, our response was to give advice and help groups to
strengthen their arguments for government or private funding. But
now, with The Heritage Foundation, Winchester Inc. will be able
to play a pivotal role in assisting, preserving, and promoting all
aspects of Toronto’s heritage.”
Keeping true to Winchester Inc.’s strengths, a key area specialization
of The Heritage Foundation is property management and property development.
Recognizing that recent instability of government funding for artistic,
cultural, and heritage communities has threatened the sustainability
of organizations like Artscape (property managers of 900 Queen and
The Distillery District), The Heritage Foundation has recently begun
talks with cultural site property managers in how the Foundation
may be of assistance.
