Erik
Swallows – Daeva/Carthian
Sometimes
you can look at a man and see that they’ve figured something
out. You know it’s important, and something that’d probably
be good for you to know, but fittingly enough, you also know it’s
something that’s got to be learned and not something that
can simply be told to you. Erik Swallows lived his life this way,
but believed it necessary for him to be on hand to at least act
as a point of reference to any other soul stumbling along in the
dark. It was his responsibility to be there, and when the word came
he saw it as the sign that he had been looking for, the doors to
the North open he sought to be the compass to help guide the wayward
back from the Invictus. And in a blur, his time short in Canada,
Swallows found himself back in America. The north continued to stand
as an Invictus stronghold. Swallows learned the virtue of patience
that night, and it is said that the reason some of his line stayed
behind is to tell him when the time has come again to return.
‘If silence is political, not-knowing is at the core of
power and its abuse.’
Neil
Hurrell – Daeva/Carthian
Inspired
by the activities of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), an American
group that considered itself to be a revolutionary vanguard army
and was a proponent of radical leftist ideology, Neil left the domain
in early December of 1973 - a month after the group had made its
first political statement through the murder of the superintendent
of schools Dr. Marcus Foster in Oakville, California. His sudden
decision to leave the domain is often pointed to as one of the reasons
that Justin Stockdale left the Carthians for the rank and file of
the Invictus.
Marianne
Faison – Daeva/Unbound
Back
during 1973, many would have pointed to her and said her to be a
Carthian. Like her siblings, the two seemed to always be at one
another’s side maneuvering their way as best as they could
through the intricacies of the court. Then Neil decided his calling
was with the SLA, leaving her alone in the domain. A year later,
she had disappeared back into the shadows of the Unbound, watching
the activities of the court from the periphery. Five years later,
since her broodmate had departed for the States, many had forgotten
that she was even around. For those who do remember her, or have
had chance to stumbling upon her through their negotiations with
John Hawk, Marianne is one of the best sources in the domain for
getting cheap supplies, materials, and even construction vehicles.
She is often seen as a Resourceful individual but strangely
charitable in her dealings with mortals if the rumors are true;
without consideration to cost helping the poor to improve their
own living conditions.
Allan
Tartt – Daeva/Carthian
Having
been banished along with his sire after the abortive rebellion attempt,
Allan wandered through the states before finally settling down in
Louisiana in the early 1900s. Seemingly there lies an affliction
in the blood which does not allow members this family to have idle
hands, as he put himself to work supporting Huey Pierce Jr., a Louisiana
State Senator who sought to implement policies that spoke to many
of the grassroots endeavors. This ultimately caused a backlash from
the local Invictus attempting to soil the good name of the senator,
and if the claims of the local Carthians are true, they had the
man killed to stop the changes that seemed imminent. In the midst
of all of this turmoil, Allan found David Riley and embraced him
into the family. Apparently, the child of Swallows has taken New
Orleans as home and entertained Riley, who returned back to the
south for the year of 1978, before sending him back to Toronto.
