Geoffroy
Quentin - Daeva/Invictus
As
the French established their presence in the New World, the lineage
of Quentin rose relentlessly. Geoffroy Quentin seemed poised to
control Invictus affairs not only in France, but also in the new
colonies and trading posts being established in a yet tamed continent.
For near a hundred years after the signing of the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye
they monopolized on the reversal of fortunes proclaiming the momentary
loss of Quebec City before its return under the treaty as a minor
set back. Unfortunately the prolonged competition with the English
Invictus caused the Invictus of France to rethink their allegiance
to the House of Quentin. Luckily the push by rival factions within
the Invictus of France and the decision by the Quentin lineage to
offset their dwindling power in France by shifting their attention
to Canada meant that much of the line survived the Carthian seizure
of power, and were much removed from the chaos of France as the
Carthians much like the mortal population of France put many of
the Invictus to death. Those kindred capable of claiming relation
to Quentin tend to following in their progenitor’s footsteps,
joining the Invictus. Perhaps it is a trait of the blood that these
kindred take great pleasure in the machinations of politics.
Yvonne Dorat – Daeva/Invictus (Childer of Geoffrey
Quentin; Prince of Montreal 1809 – Present)
Yvonne
Dorat saw her stationing in Montreal as an opportunity to claim
equal standing in Kindred society. With the ocean separating her
from Europe, the new Prince established her presence as the ultimate
authority in Quebec, and forced the other covenants to abide by
her alliance with the English Invictus. The ancestral hate which
had plagued interactions previously were forced aside in what Dorat
saw as a gambit to consolidate Canada under the leadership of the
Invictus. It is because of this success that the Invictus have been
able to marshal their combined forces against the American Carthians,
which descendents of the Dorat line have reasoned allows claim to
preeminence amongst the Invictus of the country, and they never
forget to remind their brethren of the thanks owed to their founder.
“You must learn to follow before you can truly understand
how to lead.”
Francois Vanier – Daeva/Invictus (Childer of Yvonne
Dorat; Prince of Quebec City 1845 – Present)
The
eldest of her children, Francois was part of Dorat’s entourage
making the trip from France when she was first ordered to the New
World to bulwark the failing family fortunes overseas. In the midst
of the various forces moving through Quebec, Francois has remained
within the shadows, directing the city and its hand in mortal politics.
Some wonder whether he willingly allowed the capital status of Quebec
City to be transferred to Ottawa in 1865. Educated in part by his
grandsire, Geoffrey Quentin, many have suggested this as the reason
that this kindred does not strike one as cut from the same cloth
as other members of the family. The seriousness which he applies
to all aspects of his life seems severe as compared with some of
the frivolous behavior often attributed to the Quentins.
