*** Rumours leading up to this session: For those who bother to follow the social news of Toronto’s High Society a buzz has occurred with news that ‘playboy’ Jared Penrose is planning on ending his self-imposed exile and will be returning to the ranks of the important and influential. Many have suggested that he must have recouped since all of his work in New York and prepared to come back to the scene with his trademark energy; likely meaning construction in Toronto will be booming again. In response to the increase of violence in the area, the Chief of Police has received approval from the Mayor to produce a by-law for 42 Division allowing the police there to impose a curfew until the gun violence is brought to heel. Officers hold the right to detain anyone traveling in the area after sundown and place them in lockup if they believe the individual does not have legitimate reason to be traveling during the curfew. The area covered by the by-law falls under the region patrolled by 42 Division. In conjunction with this announcement, the Chief of Police has also announced that additional funds have been provided by the city to the Police Force allowing them to focus upon an intensive hiring drive to fill the diminishing ranks of the Police Force. To the kindred of the domain the inability to hunt in one of the four recognized hunting grounds has caused some concern. Being forced to avoid the region policed by 42 Division means that the likelihood of kindred frequenting the same grounds and possible altercations occurring due to such proximity has many wondering if perhaps this is being done intentionally to further heighten the difficulties faced presently by the court. This has also sparked concern about the sanctity of Elysium being maintained with the Carthians and Invictus at such odds currently. The continued presence of David Riley at the Elysium and Connor Truman’s continued movement throughout the domain is causing many to restrain their curiosity and warily watch the events unfold around them. True to his word the oak tree Connor Truman said he would have planted in honor of Eliza King’s sacrifice has been planted in the small park behind the Old City Hall. For those who are managing to remain social amidst the current upheaval of the court some speculation is growing about what may seem a major addition being built on the Durand Estate. *** To say that the Elysium was eventful would bely the turmoil which erupted during the last gathering. The Chronos Foundation - an oddity by most kindred standards - made a call to action in the hopes of bringing an end to the reign of VII, which is said to have consumed the Prince Hollinger, and is using him as a puppet to fulfill their aims of kindred destruction. While the Invictus were skeptical of such claims, the fact that Lyta Troy, leader of the Lancea Sanctum had been placed into torpor two days prior during an altercation with the Prince, the unprecedented Bloodhunting of 10 members of the court (Akiva Koen, Ahote, Jared Penrose, Kage, Lyta Troy, Evan Drake, Karolina Hansen, Giovanni d’Alessandro, Florian Durand, Skeet Horton), and the requested punishment of Ronin and Nicholas de Navarre for their involvement in the conspiracy to remove Hollinger from power spurred the Invictus to take action. The discussion on what to do was interrupted by an attempt to destroy the Elysium. Samuel Morrissey apparently was dispatched to the Elysium with a van full of explosives with designs to have Justin Stockdale drive the vehicle towards the building and detonate it. David Riley is said to have received some forewarning and went to his blood relative to keep him from this task. Reports are still confused but what is clear is that Stockdale decided not to go through with his orders; Morrissey so enraged by the betrayal attempted to attack Stockdale; John Hawk appeared out of no where and tried to keep Morrissey from getting to Stockdale. The Archon drove the van away from the building and detonated the explosive device when Morrissey managed to force his way into the van. The threat neutralized Ingrid Jameson steps before the gathered kindred of the court and proclaims, with the support of the Lancea Sanctum and the Carthians, her intention to seize praxis and hold the domain until such time that her sire, if possible, can be returned to his normal self. All bloodhunts issued in the past months under Hollinger’s reign have been nullified and a request was made for the gathered kindred to remain within the halls of Elysium for 48 hours. Vincent Avery and Claudia Dorr of the Summit Construction company held a press conference the morning following the explosion which rocked the Distillery District Sunday night taking responsibility for the incident. The driver, a Nelson Mishler, miraculously survived the explosion having pulled himself out of the vehicle after an accident caused him to turn the truck and roll it into the parking lot. Mr. Mishler was moving the explosives typically used in the breaking of foundations for condominiums and other high rises Sunday night in anticipation of work for the coming week. The driver’s blood alcohol level was well above the limit and is being considered the likely cause for the accident. The representatives for the Summit Construction company apologize for the incident and understand they were extremely lucky that no one was injured by the accident. They will be footing the bill for repairs to the area and the vehicles damaged. The Fire Marshall has corroborated the claims made by the Summit Construction company and thanked them for the speed with which they notified emergency units of the accident and the steps they are taking to rectify this matter ensuring that it will never occur again. The Mayor has publicly thanked the Summit Construction company for their upright actions and intentions to pay for all damages incurred by this accident. Over the course of the two days which some members of the court spend in the Elysium, Emmaline Van Keulen spares no expense to ensure that the gathered kindred have an enjoyable time. Fielding all manner of requests, she ensures that entertainment to suit the tastes of most of the present individuals is provided and manages to turn a rather stressful situation into what some have remarked as a two-day-long party. The Ordo Dracul are typically much more reserved than this, often providing rather quiet arrangements for their guests; this turn of events is unique and caused some to query the change in Emmaline and possibly even the Ordo Dracul’s demeanor regarding such festivities. The first night that the kindred remain within the Elysium Giovanni D’Alessandro the new bishop of the Lancea Sanctum, due to the torporing of Lyta Troy, leads an informal Midnight Mass to coronate Ingrid Jameson as the new Prince of Toronto. The Mass is a highly ritualistic affair allowing for any member of the gathered kindred to involve themselves and remind the court that the Lancea Sanctum even with the loss of their leader stand strongly behind the new Prince. Those who were in the ornate rooms of the Elysium are pretty sure that Kari continued to spend the day for the Prince’s suggested 48 hours, but as others slept in the basement Kari was never there. Some have whispered that she had been staying on the floor that houses the Ordo Dracul. During the visit at the Elysium, all of the Invictus arrive and depart to one of the state rooms rented out by the Ordo Dracul for largish functions. The doors are kept shut for two hours exactly, and then the members of the covenant depart back to their duties and activities. Speculation in the court at the moment is that Prince Ingrid Jameson is moving quickly to get her house in order before tackling the issue of removing Hollinger from power. Delays getting to the explosion in a parking lot located within the core of the Distillery District have been blamed on a report that was circulated through the Police Divisions of a plan to report a rash of bomb threats throughout the city as a prank. City officials are investigating the response time for that evening to determine whether this is the case or not. *** An Announcement from Prince Ingrid Jameson This announcement is going out shortly after the kindred who remained at the Elysium leave. I’m still sorting out that period of time and the first week of downtime so please slot this announcement in at the appropriate time once I’ve had a chance to release the other information regarding the gathering. To the Kindred of Toronto, The Invictus are saddened to announce the passing of Justin Stockdale, Archon and defender of the domain. Mister Stockdale was only with us a short time, but in his service he demonstrated a sense of duty and purpose that was at once rare and refreshing. It is known that he sacrificed himself to protect us all, destroying a grave threat to several members of the city in the process. Knowing him as we did, we must understand that it was an end he chose for himself, and one that he would likely have been proud of. Let us console ourselves in that knowledge, and let us all honor him with our consideration. In his last moments, Mister Stockdale demonstrated a quality of purpose that elevated him beyond the bounds of any covenant or faction. He was a dutiful member of the Invictus. He was an idealist of the Carthian Movement. More than either, he was a great citizen of the domain. A service is planned for him in two weeks time. Following, there will be a small dedication at the Durand estate. Attendance at either is open to all, and the time and place of each will be announced shortly. To the Loyal Subjects of the Court, By order of the Prince of the Domain of Toronto, Ingrid Jameson of the Covenant of Invictus and of the House of Hollinger, the division and strife which has plagued this city shall now come to an end ushering in a new order of stability and fortitude that all Kindred can enjoy. Firstly, it is with great honor and solemn piety that I, Archbishop Giovanni D’Alessandro of the Lancea Sanctum, accept the appointment of the Office of Seneschal by order of Prince Jameson. In this capacity, I shall act as the royal chamberlain and advisor to the Prince, offering spiritual strength and diplomatic counsel in her role as the sovereign of this domain. My station will also see me take an active role in the daily political administration of this city as it benefits the Prince who must be concerned with the overall vision of governing and protecting the domain. To that effect, it will be necessary that I meet with all of the Covenant Heads on a fairly regular basis and I look forward to working with each of you in the nights ahead. Furthermore, I ask that if any Damned of this city have questions or concerns please bring them to your respective Covenant Heads who can then bring them to my attention if they deem it necessary. As loyal supporters to the Prince, it is vital that all who reside in this domain understand that loyalty to the Court of Jameson will usher in a new era of peace to this city. Prince Jameson is firm in her resolve to see that nothing threatens the sanctity of the domain just as she is equally firm in her desire to see this domain grow prosperous and strong. For this to be accomplished, the Prince recognizes that all the subjects must not only be loyal supporters of her benevolent rule but must also have a voice of their own that is acknowledged and considered by the Court. Therefore, it is the order of Prince Jameson that the Tribunal of Court advisors be formed immediately. These advisors, called Tribunes, shall act as official representatives to the Prince and shall be selected from each Covenant within the domain. In their advisory capacity, the Damned serving as Tribunes will be expected to represent and speak on behalf of their Covenant as it pertains to the Court. The Prince is eager to form a Tribunal that will speak to her desire for a stable and secure domain in which members from the various factions can work together for the interests of the city. It is by the will of their peers that the Tribunes to the Court of Jameson are as follows: For the Invictus- Lord Florian Durand, Meister Advocate For the Lancea Sanctum- Brother Elias Carter For the Ordo Dracul- Mr. Nicholas De Navarre, Dedicated Scholar of Hunger For the Carthians- Mr. Connor Truman The appointment of these Tribunes is a crucial step in ensuring the growth and sanctity of this city. The Prince welcomes their contribution to her governance and expects their loyalty to her rule over the Domain of Toronto. May the Lord Almighty and his Dark Prophet Longinus, bless us and guide us. if you believe that the call to arms is an open attempt by the Chronos
Foundation to challenge the authority of the Prince and the court,
this is your city. Whatever comes in the future is something you
have to live with. Many are deciding that the only way to understand
what is about to occur is to tempt the Elysium; the sanctity of
the building maintained by a tradition over 100 years old and a
recognition that somewhere has to remain neutral in the domain even
as the city threatens to pull itself apart. Perhaps some clarity
can be brought; even if its just a clarification of who stands on
what side.
